Rise and Shine, Park Cities (5-13-11)

1. I’ve neglected to mention until now that when I was at the Rangers-Yankees game on Saturday, the first pitch was thrown out by none other than state Rep. Dan Branch, R-University Park, who was sporting a 108 jersey to match his district number. I’m reminded of that because I was alerted this week to a video of Branch and Peggy Tucker conducting the Highlander Strings in the rotunda of the Capitol.

2. Yesterday afternoon, John M. Jackson was honored by the planting of a tree at the intersection of Rosedale and Hillcrest. Despite the name of University Park’s Memorial Tree Program, Jackson is alive and well. Read more in next week’s edition of Park Cities People.

3. I thought I was going to just cover the Scots’ game with North Dallas tonight. Now I feel pressured to live blog it. Sheesh.
