Rise and Shine, Park Cities (6-14-11)

1. Highland Park Town Council approved preliminary plans for the town hall renovation project Monday. For a full report, check Friday’s paper, but there’s one tidbit that didn’t make the print story that I wanted to mention. On the third floor of the building, the plans call for an outdoor terrace, and councilmembers and town officials have discussed installing a grill, and maybe a sink area. No cost estimate for the grill yet.

2. The HPISD Board of Trustees meeting at 5 p.m. tonight will include the oath of office for both newcomer Sam Dalton and incumbent Trustee Joe Taylor. The meeting is the last scheduled one for the next two months, so if you got something to say, better come tonight.

3. Two contractor vehicles were recently stolen in Highland Park, both during the middle of the day. On June 7, a Toyota Tundra was taken, and on June 8 a Chevy van was taken. DPS is warning residents and contractors to stay alert and, if you happen to drive a 1995 Chevy van, take the keys out of the ignition the next time you go inside a house.
