Sarah Hopkins and Luke Anthony Palan wedding

Sarah Hopkins and 2nd Lt. Luke Anthony Palan exchanged wedding vows May 8 at the Filter Building on White Rock Lake. The midday ceremony was officiated by Jeremy Albers, Associate Chaplain at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, and a Christian Church (Disciples Of Christ) minister. A reception, with buffet luncheon and dancing, followed the service.

The bride is the daughter of Hal and Dorothy Hopkins of University Park. She is the granddaughter of Robert and Joanne Hopkins of Dallas, and the late Anthony and Margie Gehring, also of Dallas.

The groom is the son of Paul and the Rev. Katrina Palan of Newton, Kan. He is the grandson of Eileen Mugg and the late Lt. Col. David Mugg (USAF) of Edmond, Okla., and Hank and Marthajune Palan of Mystic Islands, N.J.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Attending as maid of honor was Amanda Hopkins, the sister of the bride. Bridesmaids included Emily Palan and Devon Clark. The flower girl was Adalia Palan.

The best man was Capt. Aaron Palan (USAF), the brother of the groom. Groomsmen included Hank Palan, Carl Hollingsworth, and Rob Hopkins. The ring bearer was Oliver Palan.

The bride is a 2007 graduate of Highland Park High School. She graduated May 7 from Texas Christian University, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio-art painting.

The groom is a 2006 graduate of Ottawa High School in Ottawa, Kan. He graduated May 7 from Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Arts in geology with a minor in art. Lt. Palan was commissioned a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army in Fort Worth on May 6. He will report for active duty at Fort Sill, Okla., in November.

Following their wedding trip to South Fork, Colo., the newlyweds now reside in New Braunfels, Texas.
