Just in Case You Forgot, HPISD Kids Are Smart

When you hear as much good news about the academic success of HPISD as I do, you tend to become a little jaded. But two announcements the district made last week are worthy of trumpeting:

1. Highland Park High School posted a composite score of 1,786 on the 2011 SAT. That’s the school’s highest composite since the SAT added a writing component in 2006. HP’s composite scores of 622 in math and 593 in critical reading were 10-year highs.

2. The Texas Business and Education Coalition named less than 4 percent of the state’s 8,000 public schools to its 2011 Honor Roll. Among the honorees were all seven HPISD campuses.
