Morgan Patricia Grandy and Casey Herbert Hunt exchanged wedding vows July 30 at Vail Interfaith Chapel in Vail, Colo. The ceremony was officiated by Tim Wilbanks, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Vail. A soloist, Dawn Poss, sang “How Beautiful,” by Twila Paris. A reception followed at the Sonnenalp Resort of Vail, where the band led the wedding party into the candlelit ballroom for an evening of dining and dancing.

On the eve of the wedding, guests enjoyed a seated rehearsal dinner at the Game Creek Club, in the mountains overlooking Vail Valley.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Megan Eileen Hartley of Charleston, S.C., and Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Lewis Grandy of Greenville, S.C. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Patricia Watters Grandy of Greenville, S.C., the late Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Leon Grandy Jr. of Aiken, S.C., and the late Mr. and Mrs. James William Hartley III of Columbia, S.C.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Herbert Hunt of University Park. He is the grandson of Mrs. John Franklin Flynn and the late Mr. John Franklin Flynn of Denison, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. William Herbert Hunt of Dallas.

For her wedding, the bride selected a classic silhouette gown of light, airy, floating layers of textured silk gazar from Warren Barron Bridal. “Cloud 9,” from the whimsical collection of Lela Rose, is a sublime creation, so named for the way light reflects off the fabric making the wearer look like she is walking on clouds. The strapless gown featured a sweetheart neckline with soft draping accentuating the bodice, a silken band defining the waist and a bustle at the back, flowing elegantly to a chapel-length train.

The bride held a fragrant bouquet of her favorite flowers, white peonies, which area florists had been unable to provide until just days before the romantic ceremony, when they were handpicked from the personal garden of a longtime resident of Vail.

The bride carried two heirloom cotton handkerchiefs. One came from the groom’s paternal grandmother and had been carried by the bride at every wedding in their family since the 1800’s. The other belonged to the groom’s maternal grandmother. The bride also wore her own grandmother’s garter beneath her silken dress. The bride had the loan of intricately decorated, flowered hairpieces previously worn for the wedding of Megan Hunt Carter, sister of the groom. To complete her look, the bride chose a beautiful, floor-length veil designed by Paris.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. Her father escorted her down the aisle. Attending as maids of honor were Katherine Elizabeth Grandy, cousin of the bride, and Mary Elizabeth Carman. Bridesmaids included Megan Hunt Carter, the sister of the groom; Elizabeth Floyd Hunt; Chelsea Scott Hunt; and Anne Lindsey McColloch. The groom’s niece, Hayley Elizabeth Hunt was the flower girl.

Members of the house party included Sarah Claire Rollins, Bahareh Jalalabadi, Liles Alice Wilson, Elizabeth Kendall Green, Riley Farr Haskell, Hope Rogers Karney, Kristen Claire Biediger and Lauren Elizabeth Biediger.

Serving the groom as best man was his brother, Taylor Flynn Hunt. His groomsmen were his brothers Davin Patrick Hunt and Austin Douglas Hunt, Matthew Ryan Grandy, the brother of the bride and Joel Christopher Carter. Sarah Claire Rollins and Robert Nathanial Crow read scriptures at the ceremony. George Herbert Hunt, the groom’s nephew, was the ring bearer.

The bride is a graduate of Christ Church Episcopal School in Greenville, S.C. and she received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance in 2008 from the Cox School of Business at SMU where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Women’s Fraternity. A former financial analyst, she is currently working as a nanny.

The groom is a 2000 graduate of Highland Park High School. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in management from the University of Georgia Honors Program. The groom is a petroleum landman with Petro-Hunt, LLC in the Dallas office.

Following their wedding trip to the Likuliku Lagoon in Fiji, the couple are at home in University Park.
