Dallas Wants to Add 300 Cameras to Watch YOU

And only you.

Wilonsky reported this morning that the city recently put out an RFP for 300 surveilance cameras, to be installed in 27 different areas of the city. That would be in addition to the 115 cameras that already monitor different neighborhoods.

Police claim the cameras are an effective deterrent in fighting crime. To which I say, have you ever seen The Wire?

Proposals are due by the end of the month.

Hopefully HP isn’t looking to turn a section of town into Hamsterdam.

I’d like them in HP. If you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about.

HP_Newbie: This made me laugh out loud. I’m thinking somewhere near Abbott Avenue?

Park Cities residents already have their own version of the lawless & crime-ridden Hamsterdam. They refer to it as “Dallas.”

To quote Benjamin Franklin- “They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Just more attacks on our freedom from an overbearing government.
