Boiler Blocks Traffic on Lovers Lane

If you were traveling westbound on Lovers Lane around 1 p.m. today, you probably experienced an unusual delay. That’s because an 18-wheeler hauling a ginormous Hurst Boiler had to be escorted by University Park Police.

According to city spokesman Steve Mace, the driver called 911 when he realized his load was too tall to safely pass under overhead power lines. UP Police responded, and helped the driver navigate a route that kept the power lines at bay.

Is there not a sign at Lovers and Central that says “no through trucks”? Hopefully UP Police ticketed this driver.
Yet another reason to find a way to prevent drivers from using Lovers and Mockingbird as an East/West major thoroughfare.

I don’t know the full story but I am thankful the driver realized he needed help and called. Much better than getting stuck or having a horrible accident involving power lines.

They were having the same issue getting this rig north up Preston. Electrical trucks were out lifting the power lines to get him through. A mess.

Where was he going? Why was he allowed to travel in neighborhood at all?

What the heck was he doing in UP in the 1st place! Aren’t big trucks supposed to stay on City of Dallas roads (except when making deliveries directly to an address located in UP)?
