Hari Mari Doubling Philanthropic Efforts During Month of July

A couple of months ago I wrote about Hari Mari, a flip flop company started by two Highland Park High School grads, and a St. Mark alumnus. The shoes are in stores throughout Dallas, as well as in Austin, Lubbock, Fort Worth, and various other Texas cities. At the rate they are expanding, they may be in stores across the U.S. within a matter of months.

This month, however, the company is donating $6 of every flip flop purchased to Cook Children’s to assist the families and patients served by the hospital’s new cancer center.

Hari Mari is a year-round partner with the hospital and typically donates $3 of every flip flop sold to the pediatric oncology unit, but they are doubling their commitment for the month of July to “Flop Fighting Cancer.” In addition, they are creating flip flop-themed care bags for patients receiving treatment, and will provide patients, doctors, and hospital staff with a pair of their durable shoes.

I like HP and St. Marks, shopping local and supporting cancer – but $60 for a pair of flip flops, that will have to be replaced in a couple of months because they’re white is a bit steep.

Price is way too high for the product they are putting out. Good work on the philanthropy, but get realistic with the pricing and maybe they could get their women’s line into some decent stores around town.

Maggie and Avid Reader – why are you such haters? I own a pair of these and they are the most comfortable pair of flip flops I have ever owned! Clearly you two don’t know what you’re talking about because they ARE sold in several women’s boutiques across Dallas AND the white can be cleaned. Hari Mari posts a how to cleaning guide on their page. I love mine!

I don’t hate their product, have a gifted pair myself that I wear on a regular basis. They are not the most comfortable pair of flip flops that I own. At the current price it is an inferior product compared to the marketplace. If they dropped the price $20 it would be a good product and if they dropped their price $30 it would be a great product.

Natalie re-read our comments. Neither said we hated anything, in fact I started my post with I like. We simply said, in our opinion, they’re expensive.
