PH Resident Pens Erotica Book

Preston Hollow has a new author in the neighborhood. And she doesn’t mind ruffling a few feathers.

Yup. Spurred by a lifetime dream to write a book — and a more recent plan to A) make it racy for female readers, and  B) do better than Fifty Shades of Grey —  Lee Ann Powell has just released Encounters. The collection of erotic vignettes is published by Brown Books, and full of short stories as emotional as they are graphic (albeit decidedly un-profane, which was “the real miracle,” Powell quips, “considering I cuss like a sailor”).

An HR executive by trade, Powell just uses her first initials with her last name on her book jacket. She’s funny, too.

Fifty Shades? That’s like a tricycle,” she told me as she made a dismissive little clucking sound. “This is like your training wheels coming off.”

To get a copy for yourself, drop by Rich Hippie in Inwood Village on Dec. 6. Powell will be signing copies from 6 to 8 p.m.
