Trinity Christian Academy intercepted two red-zone passes in the final five minutes Saturday afternoon to preserve a 27-16 victory over Bishop Lynch. The win at Lake Highlands’ Wildcat-Ram Stadium propels the Trojans to the TAPPS Division I state championship game.

A pair of Preston Hollow residents made key contributions on TCA’s final scoring drive. On a third-and-17 late in the third quarter, junior Brock Thomas caught a 45-yard completion; 20 of those yards came after the catch. Three plays later, the Trojans had not advanced the ball. But on fourth-and-10, senior Nick Plumlee caught the ball at the 1-yard line as he dove out of bounds with a Bishop Lynch defender draped across his back. TCA made it a two-possession game two plays later, and the ensuing extra point kicked by another Preston Hollow resident, Alexander Beiersdorf, was the final point of the game.

You can read more about the Trojans’ victory in next week’s edition of Preston Hollow People. The state championship game against Fort Worth Nolan Catholic is scheduled for 3 p.m. on Dec. 8 at Floyd Casey Stadium in Waco.
