State Judge Says School Finance System is Inadequate, Unconstitutional

Big news out of Austin this afternoon for HPISD and hundreds of other school Texas districts: The school finance lawsuit that officially began in October has wrapped — for the moment — with state district judge John Dietz ruling that Texas doesn’t adequately funds its public schools or distribute the money fairly.

HPISD is part of the Texas School Coalition, which has represented nearly 90 districts, including six plaintiffs, in the trial. The Texas Tribune has details about today’s ruling.
