Thank God I’m A City Boy

Finding a place to shoot sunsets in the city can be a challenge. In Mesquite there are  still some wide open spaces even within the city limits. On the bottom photo, although far away, you can see a crescent moon. I knew I had maybe five minutes max to take a few photos here. Photos taken with a Nikon D7000, shutter speed 1/60 sec, f/6.3, ISO 200 at 22.0mm focal length. These look like paintings to me me, the more I look at them. I can envision them on a canvas, hanging on a wall somewhere. Oddly enough I can’ t paint or draw, so I envy those who have that ability. Maybe that is why I don’t have any personal photos hanging in my home. This was just capturing a spec of elapsed time, in an ever changing sky, where the sunset will be different again tomorrow, and they day after that and the day after that.

Love these Chris. You really should consider getting them on canvas and enlarged. Marvelous shots, really. And I know what you mean about not being able to paint or draw. You’re being artistic with the opening and closing of the shutter.
And for that we can be glad.
