Both Highland Park cross country teams had a big morning at last Saturday’s McKinney Boyd Invitational.

Led by Natalie Rathjen’s first-place finish, the Lady Scots won the Elite Girls division with 45 points. Rathjen got her second individual win of the season with a time of 16:41. Teammate Becky Ketch was sixth (18:52), followed by Kate Krikorian in seventh place (18:57).

The Running Scots finished second to Jenks (Okla.) in the Boys Elite division. Highland Park, led by Rico Lara’s fourth-place finish, tallied 64 points. Lara ran a 15:15. Teammate Jack Beitter finished in ninth place (15:21), and Danny Leland was 11th (15:41).

Both squads are off this week for testing. Highland Park returns to action on Sept. 28. The girls will be at The Colony, while the boys will be at Lovejoy.
