UP Homeowner Eludes Gunman

The University Park Police Department’s weekly report just arrived in my inbox, and the scariest thing in it — by far — happened Friday night. Just after 9 p.m., a robber jumped a fence in the 2900 block of Rosedale Avenue, pointed a gun at the homeowner, and demanded his wallet. Rather than hand over his wallet, the homeowner — who is in his 50s — decided to run into his house, slam the door, lock it, and call the police. By the time cops arrived, the gunman was gone. He was about 5 feet, 10 inches, and weighed approximately 180 pounds. He was dressed in dark clothes, and he wore black gloves and a black ski mask.
