As the regular season wraps up tonight for the Highland Park girls basketball team, there is still technically some work to be done in order for the Lady Scots to clinch a playoff berth.

I say technically because the only thing standing in the way of HP and the postseason is a victory over last-place Terrell, a young squad that fell by 57 points in the previous meeting between the two teams last month. It’s even possible that HP could lose tonight and still make the playoffs.

After a 59-43 loss to Carrollton Newman Smith in their home finale on Friday, the Lady Scots (16-9, 7-6) are tied with Mesquite Poteet for third place in the District 10-4A standings, one game ahead of North Forney and Carrollton Creekview.

So if HP wins tonight, its season will continue next week. Among the possible bi-district opponents awaiting the Lady Scots are The Colony, Frisco Centennial, and powerhouse Frisco Wakeland.
