SMU Seeks Permit For Lighted Tennis Courts

SMU needs a permit to install lighted tennis courts behind the Park Cities Plaza shopping center on Mockingbird Lane. That permit will be the subject of a public hearing at today’s University Park City Council meeting. Given that the site in question is surrounded by SMU dorms and a bunch of businesses that pay rent to SMU, I can’t imagine there will be much opposition. Am I wrong?

Dan, you’ve lost your mind. No project that involves change in the Park Cities ever goes unopposed (see Chase Bank, the parking garage at HP, the lights at HP, the UP Library, the YMCA, the house on the corner of Southwestern and Hillcrest that was demolished so that 2 houses could be built, the parking lot addition behind UP Methodist, widening Mockingbird, doing away with Ownby Stadium to build Gerald R. Ford stadium, etc, etc, etc, etc.)
