Rangers to Face Allen in Playoffs

Jesuit’s playoff seed came down to a proverbial three-way coin flip. But regardless of whether that coin landed on heads, tails, or whatever the third side is, the Rangers knew they would be in for a tough draw.

As a result, Jesuit (15-12) wound up with the second seed in District 9-5A, and will face Allen (22-8) in the Class 5A Region II bi-district round at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Berkner.

The Rangers finished in a three-way tie for first place in the district standings with Skyline and Berkner. After the coins were flipped, they were given the second playoff seed among the three teams. Allen finished in third place in a very competitive District 10-5A behind Plano West and Plano East.

The two teams met in a consolation game at the Allen Holiday Invitational tournament in late December, with the Eagles winning 56-39.

The winner will play either Mesquite or Garland later this week in the area round.
