It might be the men’s World Cup that has captured the attention of soccer fans around the world this month, but it was one of the most decorated players in women’s soccer history that had the attention of some local youngsters last week.

Kristine Lilly, who made a record 352 appearances for the U.S. women’s national team over a 24-year span, visited a girls soccer camp at Highland Park High School on June 18, overseeing some drills and providing some advice to future World Cup hopefuls.

Lilly ranks third all-time with 130 goals for Team USA. She won World Cup titles in 1991 and 1999, and Olympic gold medals in 1996 and 2004.
