Bailey: ‘Shocked’ Patrizio Had to Leave Village

Ed Bailey, father of political candidate Leigh Bailey, said he was “shocked” when he learned he would have to leave Highland Park Village, according to the DMN.

Earlier this summer, we reported that Patrizio had not renewed its lease, following a meeting with Village owner Ray Washburne and the Highland Park Town Council.

But in yesterday’s piece, Bailey claims that Washburne chose not to renew the lease following a discussion on updating the restaurant, and instead, chose to take the space in a new direction.

Bailey first bought the restaurant in 2006, and estimates that the annual sales for the restaurant reach around $4 million. His lease in the Village is up early next year, and he has yet to find a replacement space for the restaurant.

It seems to be pattern for him; however, it shouldn’t reflect negatively on his daughter.

We stopped eating at Patrizios years ago. The food is terrible and no amount of atmosphere can make up for that. The Village really needs to up it’s game in restaurants. Preston Center is whipping the pants off them.

Patrizio went downhill fast after Jack Knox sold it. The place is filthy and birds poop on your table when you’re outside. It’s not the same as it was and I am not sorry to see it go. I think other Patrizios have closed too. And I agree with Austin, let’s not let this guy taint his daughter’s image. She is great.

A PERFECT site for a restaurant. Just not Patrizio’s anymore. Yuck.

They need to bring in another Hillstone restaurant. They’ve got some others (besides R & D) with seafood etc. that look amazing but are based in California. That would be a perfect fit & would def. drive commerce.

Agree on Preston Center. Snider Plaza’s Snider Plaza, more intimate. Knox/Henderson area has great options. West Village is cheezy & too many Dallas hacks.

Alas, I stopped dining at Patrizio long ago. This used to be one of my regular haunts, but I felt the quality of the food steadily declined. I agree that this space needs to be updated with a new restaurant.
