So far, the jump to Class 6A hasn’t done anything to derail the annual dominance of the Highland Park tennis team.

With six straight state titles under their belt and 15 titles overall, the Scots will try to keep that streak alive at the UIL state tournament beginning Thursday in College Station.

HP, which is unbeaten this season, will face Houston Memorial, the defending 5A state runner-up, in the semifinals. The Mustangs also are undefeated this fall.

The bracket is loaded with perennial powerhouses. If the Scots advance, they will meet New Braunfels or Plano West in the title match on Friday. New Braunfels is the defending 5A champion, while Plano West suffered its only loss this fall to HP.

Over the weekend, the Scots won the Region II title with victories over The Woodlands, Lake Travis, and Austin Westlake, which HP toppled by a 10-6 margin to claim the crown.
