Skulduggery of the week: Ding-Dong Drunk

Between 12:45 and 1 a.m. on June 18, a vandal broke a window in the door of a house in the 4400 block of University Boulevard, causing $300 in damage. Apparently the man was intoxicated and at the wrong address.

HIGHLAND PARK

16 TUESDAY
Between 10 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., a thief stole $52,750 worth of jewelry from a closet inside a house in the 4600 block of North Versailles Avenue.

Between 12:30 and 2:11 p.m., a burglar stole $5,450 worth of jewelry, $1,800 worth of Royal Crown China soup bowls, and a $300 Gold Vermeil salad fork from a house in the 5400 block of Fairfield Avenue. The perpetrator jumped a backyard fence and shot a BB gun through a double-paned window to break into the house, then ransacked a bedroom and dining room.

21 SUNDAY
At 3:13 p.m., James Hinman, 75, of Dallas was arrested at Highland Park Village on a public intoxication charge.

At 8:26 p.m., Jeffrey Charles Drapkin, 28, and Katherine Danielle Nuckolis, 28, of Dallas were each arrested in the 3400 block of Armstrong Avenue on a public intoxication charge.

UNIVERSITY PARK

17 WEDNESDAY
At 1:27 a.m., a burglar broke into Highland Park Watch & Jewelry in Snider Plaza and stole $5,000 worth of jewelry and a $500 Louis Vuitton purse.

Between 9:30 and 9:40 a.m., a burglar broke into a white 2010 Ford van at Cafe Brazil in the 6400 block of North Central Expressway and stole a $600 iPhone.

18 THURSDAY
Between 6 p.m. on June 17 and 7 a.m. on June 18, a burglar broke into a blue 1998 GMC in the 3600 block of Wentwood Drive and stole $1,100 worth of tools.

19 FRIDAY
At 12:22 a.m., a thief tried to steal four tires from a white 2012 Ford F-150 in the 3400 block of Normandy Avenue. John Russell Tiller, 42, of University Park was arrested on charges of criminal mischief and public intoxication.

Between noon and 1:15 p.m., a burglar broke into a house in the 3500 block of Bryn Mawr Drive and stole $3,450 worth of jewelry.

20 SATURDAY
At 1:10 a.m., Bryan Andrew Amend, 29, of Dallas was arrested in the 5700 block of North Central Expressway on a public intoxication charge.

21 SUNDAY
Between 4:30 and 5:30 p.m., a burglar broke into a maroon 2015 Buick Encore in the 6400 block of North Central Expresswayand stole $250 worth of clothing and $50 worth of prescription medications.

Between 6:30 and 9:37 p.m., a thief stole the tailgate, valued at $1,000, from a blue 2008 Chevrolet truck in the 3300 block of Purdue Street.

At 10:16 p.m., a shoplifter stole two cases of Bud Light, valued at $38, from Chevron in the 8400 block of Preston Road.
