Carey Lohrenz talked about the importance of leadership and staying tenacious during Ursuline’s annual speaker series, Lunch With A View, on Sept. 11.

Lohrenz, the first female F-14 Tomcat fighter pilot in North America, was the event’s keynote speaker. Dr. Robert Morgan was the master of ceremonies, and Ursuline senior Allison Gerush was the student speaker.

“Don’t wait for an invitation to make a difference,” Lohrenz said in front of 480 guests at the Omni Dallas Hotel. “Developing leadership skills are for everybody. Be the catalyst, and banish your limiting beliefs. If you lose the sight, you lose the fight.”

Said Gerush: “Ursuline has provided me with an environment where I can not only discover who I am, but also explore the world around me and find my place in it. I want to change the world one person, one encounter at a time.”

Lunch With A View continues to support scholarships for tomorrow’s leaders. The event has brought in $325,000 in the previous five years alone.
