HPISD Early Voting Numbers Are High

Nobody should be surprised that Highland Park ISD voters have taken an interest in the district’s $361.4 million bond package, as early-voting numbers suggest.

As of about 10 a.m. Friday, the tally had reached 3,694 voters for the bond election. That’s a turnout of roughly 17 percent.

We don’t know the number of yays and nays, of course, but it marks a significant increase over the most recent HPISD bond referendum in 2008, when taxpayers cast a total of 2,033 ballots.

Today is the final day for early voting, by the way, with polls open until 7 p.m. at all Dallas County polling locations, including the HPISD administration building and Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. Election day is Tuesday, and you can find all of your necessary precinct information here.

Since long-time Park Cities resident Mark Hardin’s letter to the editor of Park Cities People was just published Thursday, and most people’s newspapers are too soggy to read, you can find his thought-provoking letter — which offers a different perspective than the Yessers — here:

Why am I receiving multiple robocalls each day (caller ID: “Political Call”) with an automated message encouraging me to vote no? And why are these calls coming from the 202 area code (Washington DC)?
