McCulloch Intermediate School fifth-grade science teacher Jaime Callahan has been granted a $600 scholarship from Delta Kappa Gamma Society International to use toward completing her doctoral studies at Dallas Baptist University. Delta Kappa Gamma is an honorary professional society for women educators.

Callahan has been a teacher for Highland Park ISD for ten years. She hopes to complete her degree by 2018.

“As I continue my studies, I have been concentrating on my dissertation topic and have started researching and writing,” Callahan said in a press release. “I am studying new science teacher retention and the correlation between teachers’ decisions to stay in the teaching profession and whether or not they participated in a mentoring program.”
