Scots Hope to Be Front Runners at Regionals

Highland Park earned a dominating team victory in the girls division at the District 15-5A cross country meet on Oct. 21 in McKinney.

The Lady Scots placed six runners in the top 10 of the individual standings, led by a runner-up finish from Sophie Schott. Also running well for HP was Grace Teffaha (third place), Emma Parker (fourth), Olivia Parker (fifth), Grace Beitter (sixth), and Maddy Stephens (10th).

On the boys side, the Scots were second in the team standings, paced by top-10 finishes from Jorge Rodriguez (sixth place) and Logan Gwinn (ninth).

Both teams qualified for the Class 5A Region II meet on Saturday at Lynn Creek Park in Grand Prairie. The boys will race at noon, followed by the girls at 12:30 p.m.

At regionals, the top four teams and top 10 individual runners from other schools will qualify for the state meet on Nov. 12 in Round Rock.
