Claire Cochran, an 8th grader at Providence Christian School, was awarded the grand prize in the 2016 Trinity River Authority Art (TRA) Contest. Her piece was selected over nearly 1,000 other entries from North Texas students in grades 1-8.

The theme for this year’s contest was “Don’t Trash Our Water.” Cochran painted a picture of a water bottle floating down the Trinity toward the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge.prov-2

“I saw this as an opportunity to utilize the gifts God gave me to draw attention to the growing effects of pollution,” Cochran said.

The TRA will make t-shirts with Cochran’s artwork for her classmates at Providence. It may also use it in future marketing materials
