While Highland Park’s third consecutive Class 5A Division I state championship was an amazing team accomplishment, of course, it’s accompanied by plenty of individual accolades.

More than a dozen HP players received first-team or superlative honors on the 6-5A Division I all-district team, as voted upon by the league’s coaches after the regular season.

Junior quarterback Chandler Morris, who was named the offensive MVP in the state title victory over Alvin Shadow Creek, also was recognized as the district MVP. His remarkable season included passing for more than 4,000 yards and 46 touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 20 scores.

First-team offensive all-district players for the Scots included running back Benner Page, receivers Finn Corwin and Drew Dodge, kicker Wesley Winters, and linemen Regan Riddle, Ryan Butz, and Tyler Kilgus.

On defense, first-team honorees for the Scots included lineman Prince Dorbah (also the defensive MVP in the championship game), linebackers Chris Read and Colby Hopkins, cornerback Hudson Clark, and safety Ryan Khetan.
