The best-of-three series format was unnecessary for Highland Park in its bi-district playoff mismatch against Seagoville.

The Lady Scots (19-8) swept the Dragons by a combined margin of 37-4 over two games on Thursday and Friday to advance to the Class 5A Region II area round, where HP will face McKinney North.

The series opener is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at HP, before the action shifts to McKinney North for Game 2 at 7 p.m. Friday. A third game, if necessary, will be noon Saturday at Wylie.

The Lady Bulldogs (19-8), which was unbeaten in District 10-5A play during the regular season, needed three games to put away Frisco Lone Star in the first round of the playoffs. That included a 5-0 shutout in Game 3 on Saturday.

HP is attempting to advance past the second round of the playoffs for the first time in program history.
