    The parade, as always.

The free spicy Chick-fil-A sandwich, of course.

I missed a free sandwich?? I’m not saying the parade was lame or anything but I didn’t even score a watermelon this year. If a friend’s kid had taken pity on me and given me a freezer pop all I’d have was a bunch of jolly ranchers.

For my young son it was watching the fire/hazmat thing on Airline@Cornell on our bike ride down to the Katy Trail. Made more impressive coming back from the Katy Trail when the Dallas Fire Department Hazmat fire trucks were called and I guess they did not get the memo that Dublin is now blocked for new infrastructure improvements for the Bush Library. We got a kick out of seeing a big fire truck with its lights hauling south down Airline only to be met with fence after fence of construction around Moody. I think it tried a couple different ways to go around it, getting stuck by a blocked street everytime. Ooops! If you are four years old, it is a quite an event.

I enjoyed listening to the band playing in the gazebo. At least until the politicians all showed up!

The HP Crew float. My kid was on it, so I might be biased. And it was way less hot than I ever remember it being.

I had a free Chik-fil-A, a free sub from Jersey Mikes and I got a watermelon. It was a good day.

Getting to dunk Charles Geilich, then being saved from a dunking myself by a long line of kids who were paying to get wet. That was sweet!

Bicycles Plus had lemomade and power bars, Jersey Mikes had sugar cookies with the sandwiches. Park Cities Pet Sitter had lollipops and dog biscuits, Park Cities Animal Hosp. had ice cold water bottles. We had planned on going to lunch afterwards but skipped it because we weren’t hungry.
