1. Did you drive by University Park United Methodist Church last Saturday and wonder why the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile was parked outside? Wonder no more. Inside the church, former Wienermobile driver Jacqueline Dickerson was marrying George E. O’Reilly. Apparently, all former Wienermobile drivers, aka Hotdoggers, have the option of being chauffered from their wedding to their reception in the Wienermobile. So Jacqueline and George hopped in the giant hot-dog-on-wheels for a ride to the Old Red Courthouse.

2. The Highland Park Literary Festival has booked quite a lineup of authors, journalists, songwriters, etc., to conduct workshops at the high school today. Noticably absent is anyone representing Park Cities People. (As much as we owe him for creating our paper, Kirk Dooley doesn’t count.) I’d like to think I know a thing or two about stringing words together. What’s a fella gotta do to secure an invite to this hoedown?

3. As part of our 30 Years, 30 Stories series, we’re trying to track down Mike Boydston, who competed for the Highland Park Academic Decathlon team in 1984 despite losing a finger just before the big event. Anybody know his whereabouts? Call me: 214-523-5272.

    Mr. Wright was definitely there and GREAT! The speaker that was scheduled for the freshman and sophmores did not make it, so Lauren Bagwell entertained the kids with her originail poetry. She was incredible, and so was her poerty.

    Love the weinermobile. I remember back in the 80′s there was a batmobile that drove around town, does anybody else remember that? Weinermobile to the wedding, batmobile exit from the festivities = awesome.

    Ditto on Mr. Wright! He was so great, and I think everyone loved listening to his interesting talk last night. I think Lit Fest was a huge success this year!
