Did You See Fox Creeping to Stadium?

By now, you’ve probably heard of the fox that ran on the field during Southlake Carroll’s victory over Skyline at SMU’s Ford Stadium on Saturday. Did any Park Cities residents see the fox before or after the game? Assuming it wasn’t smuggled into the stadium, it had to have crossed a few yards or alleys on the way.

    I wasn’t at that game, but I see a fox regularly around Holy Redeemer Church across from Northpark. It really freaked me out the first time I saw it. It’s right in the city. I’m sure it lives at Sparkman/Hillcrest and follows the creek/greenbelt. Really cool.
    Ford Stadium is quite a distance from a creeky area. That sounds like a lost fox. Poor thing.

    Have not seen the fox before; but have seen a coyote twice in the last year over by Greenway Parks off Mockingbird just over the tollway.

    for pete’s sake, i hear foxes abound in the m-streets,
    actually forcing folks to keep their kitties inside.

    If you go walking by the stadium after a game and look thru the gates you will see tons and tons of kittys roaming around. SMU has a huge feral cat population, they have 13 colonies and over 60 cats. Volunteers fill up feeding stations every day, and can always use more volunteers http://www.smu.edu/cats/ I think the kitty’s and probably the fox too are in there eating the leftover food from the games. That lil fox just showed up too early. Most foxes are not much bigger than a cat, so I think the kittys are safe. In East Dallas it’s the coyotes from around White Rock that are killing cats, that and packs of feral dogs that are a problem. FYI – if you see a kitty with a lil notch in his ear that means he’s a feral that has been trapped, neutered and given all his shots.

    There have been a lot of foxes in the M-streets, along with Coyotes. The Greenland Hills Neighborhood Association is hosting a meeting tonight to discuss it at 7 pm at Unity Church on Greenville & McCommas. Here’s the summary from the neighborhood association:

    “Representatives from Dallas Animal Services and 911Wildlife.com will be on-hand to give us a presentation on ways to eliminate sightings of foxes and coyotes, and how to keep our pets safe.

    We have invited residents of surrounding neighborhoods to attend as well. We look forward to seeing you this evening.”

    As the sub was setting, I saw a Coyote at White Rock over by the Yacht club a couple of months ago. I was in a running group and the Coyote appeared to be stalking something about 50 yards away.

    We passed a mom with a small child and I told her, whatever you do, don’t let the kid walk as there was a Coyote watching them. She thought I was kidding at first, until she saw the Coyote. We had no trouble keeping up our pace after that.
