Crime: May 6 – 12

SKULDUGGERY OF THE WEEK: EASY JEWEL HEIST 

Between 1:30 p.m. May 8 and 10 a.m. May 9, a thief took package full of expensive inventory off a front porch in the 4500 block of Emerson Avenue.  Reported missing at  7:49 a.m. May 10: five items valued at $40,000, $15,000, $5,750, $3,000, and $1,000.

HIGHLAND PARK

11 Saturday 

At noon, surveillance cameras in the 4600 block of Versailles Avenue caught a white truck passing crape myrtle tree  belonging to the town, and then backing into it, breaking off a branch.

UNIVERSITY PARK

6 Monday

A laptop, valued at $2,500, and the charger, valued at $500, were reported stolen from a Starbucks at Mockingbird Lane and Central Expressway at 4:10 p.m.

Reported at 8:48 p.m.: A man said a white Jeep struck his black 2012 Ford Raptor parked at the 7000 block of Boedeker Street and left without leaving any information.

8 Wednesday

Reported at 3:18 p.m.: A woman said a vehicle backed into her grey 2016 Porsche GTS parked at the 6700 block of Preston Road and left without leaving any information.

Reported at 5:08 p.m.: Sometime between 6 p.m. April 7 and 5 p.m. April 8, graffiti was spray painted on a fence at the 3000 block of Hanover Street. 

A wallet was reported stolen out of the center console of an unlocked 2016 Acura MDX parked at the 3400 block of Amherst Street. The wallet, valued at $50, contained $40 in cash, a Disney Chase credit card, a Gap credit card, a Wells Fargo debit card, and a Charles Schwab debit card.

11 Saturday

At 5:46 p.m., a man fled in a tan 1998 Ford Explorer after shoplifting three stacks of Reserve brand designer jeans – $436 worth – from Jos A. Bank in The Plaza At Preston Center.
